Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states. 

We are seeking an Associate Executive Director to further develop our Southern Maryland location! This is a key and exciting role for an individual who has a commitment towards improving the lives of persons with disabilities. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director will be responsible for ensuring the development, implementation and advancement of our mission.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a related field (Home Community Based Service (HCS) or working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in the community).
  • 1+ year of experience as a Direct Manager/Supervisor.
  • Understanding and commitment to community based support for persons with disabilities.
  • Understanding of funding sources and entitlement programs for people with disabilities.


  • Assist the Executive Director (ED) with all daily operations and fills in for the ED in their absence.
  • Identify obstacles within the agency and presents solutions to the ED.
  • Assist the ED with the development and implementation of fundraising activities.
  • Recommend sound personnel practices in employee recruitment, evaluations, compensation, employee benefits, and terminations.
  • Prepare required statistical, financial, and service reports as needed.
  • Establish and maintains effective relationships with local, state, and governmental agencies.
  • Participate in developing long and short-term department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • May perform the duties of Community Support Staff and Direct Care Staff, in accordance with staffing needs.

Working Conditions:

  • On-Call 24 hours a day for emergencies, in cooperation with other agency staff.
  • Frequent local travel is required in addition to occasional transportation of consumers.
  • Work will take place in the office, community, and in the homes.
