Job Description

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Behavior Support Specialist to utilize their ingenuity and creativity to determine the best training methods, assistance, and support for an individual with disabilities. 

Monday-Friday, On-Call for Emergencies

Job Responsibilities:

  • One on One observation and interactions with our individuals.
  • Creation and completion of Functional Behavioral Assessments, Prevention Plans, and Support plans, as needed.
  • Training of staff on implementation of behavioral management plans.
  • Prepares progress reports for consumer’s immediate support group, including their family and/or guardian, staff, employment specialist, case manager, and other professionals.
  • Actively participates in treatment team meetings, ensuring a person-centered approach to care.
  • Documents treatment notes and completes semi-annual summaries of consumer's progress.
  • Reviews and revises behavior support plans as indicated by the individual's progress and needs and with the treatment team's recommendations.
  • Supports and encourages consumer to increase his/her ability to problem solve, be in control of life situations, and to be as independent as possible.
  • Provide crisis management services as necessary.
  • Cooperate with Agency/Licensee and Department staff in any inspection or investigation.

What Skills/Experience You Have:

  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • BCBA  or BCaBA certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in writing and and implementing behavior plans. 
  • Ability to conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion during positioning of consumer or equipment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • On-call 24 hours a day for emergencies.
  • Work will take place in the community and in the homes.
